Tuckahoe Youth Association is soliciting your support for some much-needed renovations at Labriola Park. TYA was founded in 1959 and provides over 300 children (ages 4 to 12) with first class T-ball, baseball, and travel baseball programs. We are a year-round organization run by volunteers. From T-ball to Majors coaches, concession stand operators to Board of Directors, everyone volunteers their time for our children. Together we strive to provide an exceptional experience on and off the field. Our main fundraising focus is to renovate the entrance to Labriola Park. We want to ensure the park continues to be a wonderful destination for our community and a beautiful place to play baseball.
The goal of this project is to provide a clean, safe, and more functional entrance to the park. The scope includes the construction of brick pillars, and walls with stone caps, lighting, and wooden fencing. Wrought iron signage will complement the new entrance lined with concrete pavers as well as embedded TYA logos cast in bronze.
As of spring 2023, we are happy to provide an update that construction began in February 2023 and was largely completed in time for the spring baseball season. Our initial goal was to raise $70,000 and thanks to our generous community we were able to exceed that goal, with every additional dollar allowing us to make more improvements to the safety and beautification of our fields. For example, with additional funds we have been able to replace the netting along foul lines and the yellow fence toppers in the outfield. If you would like to contribute to this historic and much needed fundraising effort, please consider our “Buy a Brick” offering today.
The Buy a Brick - Support TYA Program enables you to become a permanent piece of Labriola Park. For $200 your family will have a 4-inch by 8-inch brick engraved to your specification that will be used to complete the new brick façade at Labriola Park this summer. Wall space is almost filled up and is now limited. The deadline to donate is June 15, 2023. Those wishing to support TYA with a larger donation, please contact Steven McGlone at sbmcglone@gmail.com.
