LaNita’s Memorial Park is located in Detroit’s legendary Old Westside neighborhood. It is in honor of an ancestor who sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2007. LaNita was a blessing to many and continues to be an inspiration.
The Memorial Park is a space to be in nature, reflect/meditate, and learn creative ways to mitigate environmental challenges. The pollinator garden creates a habitat for butterflies and other local wildlife while encouraging active living with the various paths to explore. The 12,254 sq ft park beautifies several otherwise vacant lots and repurposes 12,791 gallons of stormwater.
We invite you to contribute a permanent fixture in the park. Consider memorializing a loved one and or yourself in the form of a personalized brick. They will be used to construct one of the walking paths.
