The Silverton All-Abilities Park is an inclusive park project envisioned by a committee of Silverton Rotary and funded partially by the City of Silverton Parks and Recreation SDC Fund, the Silverton Urban Renewal Agency, and numerous community donors. The park will be located northeast of the Silverton Community Pool parking lot and east of Coolidge-McClaine Park, in an idyllic setting along Silver Creek in Old Mill Park. The community build project, which will be led by members of our Silverton Rotary Clubs and Silverton Interact Clubs is slated for mid-May 2023.
We are so excited to bring this project to our community, which to date has no park equipment that is wheelchair accessible and no park equipment with amenities specifically designed for users of various unique needs. This is not, however, a park just for those users – we believe it is important to provide and protect this type of facility for those who are unable to access our other parks, but also feel that it is vital that we lead the way in encouraging users of all abilities to share the space. Only through inclusion and awareness can we one day become a world where public spaces don’t fit the needs of only some members of any community.
As a portion of our park funding process, we’re offering individualized bricks that will pave the foundation areas for our benches surrounding the park, and if the demand exceeds those spaces, will also pave specific other areas around the park. Every brick sold will be used in the park and will become a permanent part of this very special space, paving the way for generations of users to experience something completely unique in Silverton.
It’s easy to place an order and ensure your name, family’s name, or special message is added to this project. Brick ordering opens on January 15, 2023 and will wrap up on March 31, 2023. The bench platforms and brick pavers will be put in place following the completion of the park itself in order to provide adequate access from all sides during construction and assembly in May.
Each brick is 4”x 8”x2.25” and are engraved using state of the art laser technology. Every brick engraving is guaranteed for life! Each brick, including engraving, is yours with a $250 donation to the project.
Silverton Rotary Foundation is a tax-exempt organization and all donations are tax deductible
