The porch and balcony at Highland Farm, on the National Register of Historic Places, holds a special place in the history of musical theatre and American culture. They were places where Oscar Hammerstein dreamt up lyrics like, “The corn is as high as an elephant’s eye," where the modern musical was born.
Hammerstein Museum is embarking on a restoration of the porch and balcony that will return them to the original state when the Hammerstein family lived at Highland Farm. As part of the restoration, bricks will be installed on the surface of the porch as it was during the Hammerstein residence. We invite you to leave your legacy at Hammerstein Museum by purchasing an engraved brick as a lasting tribute to your love of Oscar Hammerstein's timeless stories and lyrics and his enduring impact on musical theatre.
Purchase of a brick helps fund the porch and balcony restoration while making your gift part of the history of Highland Farm.
Purchase a legacy brick for yourself, honor a loved one, or as a memoriam. Bricks are engraved using state-of-the-art laser technology, guaranteed for life! Bricks will be installed in the spring of 2026. Space is limited, so place your order as soon as possible! Donations are tax-deductible.
*The Oscar Hammerstein Museum & Theatre Education Center reserves the right to decline any brick message or image that isn’t in keeping with our mission, values, or family-friendly spirit.
