In 1993, the people of Brown County came together to do something special for our kids. We built Mt. Sterling's first swimming pool!
Our pool badly needs an upgrade. In addition to essential improvements to the pool and bathhouse, we're excited to be adding a zero gravity entrance to the wading pool, shade sails, fencing, lighting, an ADA lift, and a cool, new feature for our youngest community members: a splash pad!
As you might imagine, the price for materials and labor has gone up quite a bit since 1993. The projected total cost of the upgrade is 1.2 million dollars. Fortunately, we have received a $400,000 grant from the state of Illinois toward the effort. But that money needs to be matched, or we lose it.
We need to raise $400,000 by the end of July. It's our turn. This is our once-in-a-generation chance to step up and "Do It for the Kids" like our parents and neighbors did 30 years ago.
The tiles you purchase will be on display inside the concession area of the pool.
