The men and women who have served Kinnelon and this great nation have done so with honor and distinction and deserve our recognition as do the men and women who work daily to support the safety and well being of our community. The current Veteran’s Memorial located in front of the Municipal Building is in poor condition and no longer serves to honor those who have given “the last full measure of their devotion” for Kinnelon and our country. The Borough Council has voted to renew the Borough’s commitment to honoring the fallen and recognizing those who serve to keep our residents safe by rebuilding the Veteran’s Memorial and rededicating it as a Veterans and First Responders Memorial. A local design company has donated their services to create a memorial worthy of their sacrifice. To pay for the new memorial, the Borough will engage in multiple fundraising opportunities for the public and local business. Our primary fundraiser will be the creation of a memorial sidewalk from the driveway circle in front of Borough Hall to the memorial which will be paved with personalized donor bricks that can be dedicated to a veteran or simply list the name of the donor. If we have enough brick donations we will make a second sidewalk to the memorial. Bricks can be purchased at $150 each. Please consider donating to this worthy cause.
